The poem "The Waterkant" describes a situation of a man who had visited this part of the Northern Sea the first time one evening before when the flood had its high tide. Next day when he came back he expected to see the sea again but he met the low tide and couldn't understand what had happened till children gave him the explanation.

Poetry Slam
In 2008 the city of Norden celebrated an event for poetry and I had won the first prize there.

The Waterkant

Today, after lunch, again youīll go
to the seaside, against the wild windīs blow.

You can hear the Christ churchīs bell
your tongue tastes the seaīs salty smell.

You feel the heartbeat till your neck
and your mouth whispers "Iīll come back".

Your legs move faster as yesterday
there, finally there is the Oceanīs Bay.

The wind moves the seabirds around
they rise and fall with a rough sound.

You start to run, there, there is the sea...
you canīt trust your eyes, how could it be?

There is no water in front of yor sight
the ocean had gone during last night.

You look to the sky and search the sun
okay, she is there and some clouds on a run.

Children are playing where the sea had been.
You ask them "Have one of you the water seen?"

They laugh "Itīs turn of tide, the water must go
but a little bit later, again, begins the flow".
